AEROREPORT series Claire technology agenda: Three stages toward emissions-free flight

MTU’s technology agenda was launched in response to global climate goals and the need to reduce aviation’s climate impact. It elaborates potential solutions at the aero engine level. In the past, aviation industry targets focused exclusively on CO₂ emissions. In the future, the climate impact of nitrogen oxide (NO_x) emissions and contrails will also play a role. Together, these effects make up the climate impact of aviation.

06.2022 | Emissions-free flight is the overall goal of aviation and the vision of MTU. With its Claire technology agenda, MTU is working hard to vastly reduce the climate impact and fuel consumption of aircraft engines.

06.2022 | MTU Maintenance starts using sustainable aviation fuels in its test cell with launch customer JetBlue Airways. MTU is the first MRO provider to have performed acceptance testing using SAF on the test stand. The test runs were carried out with V2500 engines.
